Perú by Day featuring Karen Lara

New York born and Texas raised singer Karen Lara comes from a diverse music background. She studied opera starting at TAMUK and graduating from Texas State University. Over the years she has been in several musical theatre productions around south Texas and North Carolina, which gave her the training to expand into other music styles. She has sung jazz with the Little Big Band, TAMUK Jazz Band II, and currently with the Vintage 15. Her Latin music background comes from being born in NY and her Ecuadorian father who taught her all of the salsa and merengue classics from a young age, but she has also sung with the TAMUK Latin Jazz Ensemble, Latin Talk, El Callejon, NATIAO, and currently with Stereomonde. All of this diversity can be seen in every performance she gives.
